3 Ways To Make Money Welding

Industrial & Manufacturing Blog

If you have been looking for a new career or something to studying in technical school, you may want to consider welding. As a field that takes unique training and precision, welding is considered to be somewhat of an art. So, what can you do with your welding services training and profession? Let's take a closer look at three ways you can make money welding.

1. Fencing

If someone needs a new metal fence, they are going to need the help of a welder. Because fences are custom, if you are a welder you will have to weld together all of the individual metal pieces, or you can even make an entirely custom fence from scratch; people will pay good money for a beautiful fence that resembles a piece of art. Plus, if you are new to the welding industry, fencing is a great place to start because it's usually a lot more simple than other welding tasks.

2. Railings

If you take a look around at both commercial and residential real estate, you will notice that metal railings are used a lot. In fact, a lot of places won't pass code unless they have a railing which makes them a basic necessity. Plus, because metal railings are really popular in interior design right now, you are sure to get a lot of clientele just by doing this alone. Similar to fencing, a lot of railings only require basic welding skills to meld the metal together, so if you're looking for a place to start in your welding career, railings and fencing are a great jumping off point for just about anyone.

3. Construction

Commercial construction, in particular, requires a lot of customized welding work; especially structurally. Think about it; a parking structure or commercial building requires a lot of metal to support the structure which will need to be welded together for strength and support. If you get a lot of experience and get your name out there, then you are more likely to get work on these large-scale construction projects.

Welding is a trade that isn't going anywhere any time soon. If you have been wanting to get into the welding services industry but aren't sure where to start, consider finding a local welding shop and shadowing a welder. Then once you get enough training from then, you can start picking up a few side jobs of your own.
